Historical Societies

Hamburg Historical Society  -  According to its website, the Hamburg Historical Society was formed in 1999 is a 501c3 non-profit organization and the official historical society of the Borough of Hamburg.  The purpose of the Historical Society is to promote awareness of the history of Hamburg and related topics through education programs, photographs, and/or exhibits, and to support and promote historical preservation of artifacts and/or structures relating to the history of the Borough of Hamburg.

New Jersey Historical Society - According to its website, the New Jersey Historical Society is a state-wide, private, non profit historical museum, library, and archives dedicated to collecting, preserving, and interpreting the rich and intricate political, social, cultural and economic history of New Jersey.  Founded in 1845, it is the the oldest cultural institution in the New Jersey.

 

 

Yonkers Historical Society – According to their site, the  Yonkers Historical Society,  was charted by the Board of Regents of the New York State Education Department in 1957. It’s mission is to preserve the historic records, structures and sites of the City of Yonkers New York. Joseph Urban‘s time living as a resident of Yonkers in chronicled in an article available in the Journal of the Historical Society.
